How Does the Meter Reader Read Your Meter if It's Behind a Gate Fence Whatever

Locing the Gate-how do my meters get read?
I have a minor problem and wondered what those of y'all do in the same situation.
Those of you with pools and hot tubs that have to lock your gate (by-laws), how do the utilities guys arrive your yard to read your meter? My meter is almost at the back of the house, so it'due south not a thing of moving the fenceline 3 feet.
I tin can't imagine they bear around a neighbourhoods worth of gate keys.....but i can't legally go out it unlocked.
what to exercise? what do yous guys exercise?

You lot may demand to call the utility companies to see what they do. Here yous can do your own reading and call or fax it in. As well some readers have some special glasses (binoculars?) they apply to become a view from another location (the aisle or the neighbours).

Are you certain your utility still visually reads your meter? Where I alive, they just demand to bulldoze by the house and the meter transmits data to their reader automatically.
Call and inquire how they exercise it, and if it's still manual, how you go around this issue.

As someone already mentioned, many meter readers accept binoculars, so they get as close every bit they can, then use the binoculars, if possible. I recall a news item from a couple of years ago where a female occupant of a house called the police because she saw a human looking at her house with binoculars, but it was a meter reader trying to read the meter that was below her window.

Electrical meter. Mine is inside, I used to provide the reading myself. Ii years agone the meter was replaced (inside) and is read from a cardinal location. As it was explained to me, each meter piggy-backs to the next meter to carry the signal for the reading.

We have this issue with our gas meter every bit we keep the gate locked due to the pool. It's actually non a problem equally they honestly only read the meter a couple of times a year. If you call them you can tell them to add together a note to the meter reading equipment to knock on the door. If you're not habitation when they read the meters they will send you a alphabetic character. Depending on the fourth dimension of year you tin can either call in the meter reading or they want to brand arrangements to really read the meter at your convenience...

i accept a puddle at my house equally well and once actually defenseless some dude jumping my contend.
since i know for a fact they didn't knock or band my front end door i kicked him off my property and told him if i always catch him in the backyard with our asking i would ill the dogs on him.
we have a pool from the argue he was trying to jump information technology is not difficult to trip directly in our pool . and i am certain equally hell if he did fall into our pool and drown we would be charged. nosotros have information technology prepare up that when they need a meter read we read it to them and and then if they need to double check they call beginning.
BTW pool owners y'all do know since your dwelling house is registered equally having a pool they Guess avg gas consumption based on a number they take at main office. we didn't use our pool i full summer due to the heater being broken and they actually charged us more so the previous year for gas consumption . Cheque your bills always they nevertheless owe us coin that they said will exist credited to our account.

The estimated gas usage has nothing to do with having a pool or not spm. They always use final year's usage to summate the estimates for the current year... It happens to anybody that dramatically changes their usage year over year. It happened to us when nosotros put all new windows in the firm and cutting our actual gas usage by 25%.
